Android phone to TV to AV Receiver for Bluetooth music
Want to play music from your mobile phone to vintage stereo speakers through your TV using Bluetooth? Yes it can be done if your devices have the required capabilities. Your mobile phone must have Bluetooth and it must be enabled. Your TV must have Bluetooth and at least an optical audio output. The AV receiver or stereo amp must have optical audio input or analog RCA audio inputs.
Procedure:
Connect optical audio cable from TV optical output to AV Receiver optical audio input or adapter for converting optical to RCA analog audio. For a vintage stereo, connect the white and red RCA cables from the adapter to the AUX or CD audio inputs on the stereo. Speakers are connected to the stereo or AV Receiver.
Power ON mobile phone and be sure Bluetooth is enabled. Power on TV and AV receiver/amp.
Go to "Settings" on the TV. Go to "Sound" and then "Sound Output". Change to the Optical Out instead of TV Speakers. Switch to the correct source input on the AV Receiver or stereo. Optical is usually the "DVD" or "Video" source input. For a stereo amp, switch to AUX or CD.
Now pair the mobile phone to the TV. Make sure the TV is discoverable for Bluetooth. Follow any instructions on the TV such as Accepting the connection from the phone.
Play music on the phone. Adjust the volume. Sound should be coming from the speakers.
